Essential Qualifications (Any one)

  • Master’s degree of a recognized University in Hindi or English with English or Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as medium of examination at degree level, OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi or English medium and English or Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level, OR
  • Master’s degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects or either of the two as medium of examination and the other as compulsory/elective subject at degree level, OR
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, OR
  • Two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government offices including Government of India undertakings.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge at Matriculation level of one language other than Hindi listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.
  • Degree or Diploma in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa from a recognized University or equivalent Master’s degree.

Age Limit

  • Maximum age for UR candidates: 30 years as on 20-02-2026 (last date of online application).
  • Relaxation up to 5 years for regular employees of Council/Government/Autonomous Bodies/PSUs as per GoI/CSIR rules.
  • SC/ST/OBC age relaxation as per Government of India norms (when applying against reserved posts).
  • PwBD: Relaxation of 10 years (and additional for SC/ST) as per GoI guidelines.

Job Profile – Junior Hindi Translator at CIMAP

Written Examination Structure

Paper-I: Objective Type (1 Hour)

Paper-II: Descriptive (2 Hours, 300 Marks)

  • Paragraph writing in English and Hindi.
  • Precis writing in English and Hindi.
  • Translation from English to Hindi and from Hindi to English.
  • Standard of questions: Graduation level; medium: English and Hindi.

  • Paper-II will be evaluated only for candidates who secure minimum threshold marks in Paper-I as decided by CIMAP.
  • Final merit list will be prepared based solely on marks obtained in Paper-II.
  • Admit cards for the written examination will be uploaded on CIMAP website only; no separate postal intimation.

Tie-Breaking Rules

  • Candidate with fewer negative marks in Paper-I will be placed higher.
  • If still tied, older candidate (by date of birth) will rank higher.
  • Next, earlier acquisition date of essential qualification will be considered.
  • Finally, alphabetical order of first names will be used if required.
