I. Technician Apprenticeship (Diploma)

II. Graduate (Non-Engineering Degree) Apprenticeship

Eligibility Criteria

• Qualification: Three Years full time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in relevant discipline granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education / Full Time Graduate degree (Non-Engineering) in relevant discipline granted by a recognized University/Institutions.
• Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam in 2022/2023/2024/2025 are only eligible.
• Candidates must register in the Apprenticeship Portal[](https://nats.education.gov.in/) and quote enrollment number.
• Candidates should not have undergone or presently undergoing Apprenticeship Training in CSIR or elsewhere.
• Candidates should not have experience of one year or more in any job.
• Sandwich diplomas, private diploma, part time/Distance/short term/certificate courses etc., are not acceptable.

Salary/ Stipend

• Technician Apprentices (Diploma): Rs. 8,000/- per month
• Graduate Apprentices (Non-Engineering Degree): Rs. 9,000/- per month
• Training Period: 01 Year

Age Limit (as on 22 January 2026)

• Technician/Diploma: Minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years
• Graduate/Degree: Minimum 21 years and maximum 26 years
• Relaxation in upper age limit: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), up to 10 years for PwBD (additional relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as applicable)
• Ex-Servicemen: Upper age limit relaxable as per extant rules

Selection Process

• Walk-in-interview
• If number of candidates are more, the Selection Committee shall adopt its own criteria and shortlist the candidates proportionate to the available vacancies.
• Original documents verification at the time of walk-in-interview

General Information / Instructions

• No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
• Hostel Accommodation will not be provided; selected candidates will make their own arrangements for stay.
• Successful trainees will be awarded National Apprenticeship Certificate by NCVT/BOAT.
• No obligation to offer employment after completion of apprenticeship.
• Any corrigendum/addendum or updates on https://www.nio.res.in/ only.
• Canvassing in any form will be treated as disqualification.

How to Apply

• Register as Graduate (Degree)/ Technician (Diploma) Apprentices online at https://nats.education.gov.in/ and obtain Unique Student Enrolment ID (mandatory).
• Appear for walk-in-interview on 22 January 2026 at CSIR-NIO Regional Centre, Kochi with filled application form (available in advertisement/website), original certificates, one set of self-attested photocopies, proof of DoB, Aadhaar Card, passport size photograph.
• Submit all required documents; failure to do so will result in candidature not being considered.
