Vacancy Details

Eligibility Criteria

For NCC ‘C’ Certificate Holders:

Educational Qualification:

  • Graduate Degree from a recognized University
  • Applicants studying in final year are also allowed to apply provided they complete and obtain Graduation Degree before commencement of course (October 2026)
  • For final year candidates, the aggregate percentage scored in first two/three years of three/four year degree course respectively will be considered for shortlisting
  • Candidates must submit proof of passing Graduation Degree examination along with all marksheets by 01 October 2026 to Directorate General of Recruiting

NCC Service Requirements:

  • Should have served for minimum two/three years (as applicable) in Senior Division/Wing of NCC
  • Should have obtained minimum of ‘B’ Grade in ‘C’ Certificate Exam of NCC
  • Applicants who do not hold NCC ‘C’ Certificate or Provisional NCC ‘C’ Certificate on date of application are not eligible to apply
  • Candidates holding Provisional NCC Certificate must obtain NCC ‘C’ Certificate before appearing in SSB
  • Provisional NCC ‘C’ Certificate will not be accepted at SSB

For Wards of Battle Casualties of Indian Army Personnel:

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Wards (unmarried sons and unmarried daughters including legally adopted) of Army Battle casualties specified as:

    • Killed in action
    • Died of wound or injuries (Other than self-inflicted)
    • Wounded or Injured (Other than self-inflicted)
    • Missing, presumed dead

  • Educational Qualification: Same as NCC candidates (Graduate Degree)
  • NCC ‘C’ certificate NOT required for Wards of Battle Casualties

Required Documents:

  • The ‘Battle Casualty’ certificate Number issued by Manpower (Policy & Planning) Directorate (MP Dte)
  • A copy of Manpower (Policy & Planning) Directorate/Respective Regimental Records Part II Order Number
  • Relationship Certificate No issued by Manpower (Policy & Planning) Directorate 5 & 6 / Respective Regimental Records

Nationality:

  • A citizen of India, OR
  • A subject of Nepal, OR
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India

Age Limit

  • Age Limit: 19 to 25 years as on 01 July 2026
  • Date of Birth: Born not earlier than 02 July 2001 and not later than 01 July 2007 (both dates inclusive)
  • Age Relaxation: As per Government norms

Important Note: The date of birth as recorded in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate on the date of submission of applications will only be accepted and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

Salary / Stipend

During Training (49 weeks at OTA Chennai):

  • Stipend: Rs.56,100/- Per Month

After Commissioning:

CTC on Commissioning: Approximately 17-18 Lakh per annum (Excluding Free Medical cover & Travel to Home town once a year)

Additional Allowances:

  • Military Service Pay (MSP): Rs.15,500/- per month (fixed)
  • Dearness Allowance: As applicable to civilian personnel
  • Para Reserve Allowance: Rs.2,625/- per month
  • Technical Allowance (Tier-I): Rs.3,000/- per month
  • Technical Allowance (Tier-II): Rs.4,500/- per month
  • Field Area Allowances: Depending upon rank and area of posting
  • Transport Allowance (TPTA): Rs.7,200 + DA (Higher TPTA Cities) / Rs.3,600 + DA (Other Places)
  • Children Education Allowance (CEA): Rs.2,250/- per month per child (for two eldest children)
  • Hostel Subsidy: Rs.6,750/- per month per child
  • Dress Allowance: Rs.20,000/- per year
  • Ration in Kind in Peace and Field Areas

Shortlisting Criteria:

Maximum 100 bonus marks will be awarded as follows:

1. Bonus Marks for NCC ‘C’ Certificate Performance (Maximum 50 marks):

  • A Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 50 Marks
  • B Grade in NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 25 Marks

2. Bonus Marks for Graduation Performance (Maximum 50 marks):

How to Apply

Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria can apply online for the Indian Army Short Service Commission Recruitment 2026.

  • Applications must be submitted online on or before 16 March 2026 (1500 Hours).
  • Visit the official website: www.joinindianarmy.nic.in
  • Click on ‘Officer Entry Application/Login’ and then click ‘Registration’ (Registration not required if already registered)
  • Fill the online registration form carefully after reading the instructions
  • After getting registered, log in and click on ‘Apply Online’ under Dashboard
  • A page ‘Officers Selection – Eligibility’ will open
  • Click ‘Apply’ shown against Short Service Commission NCC Special Entry Course
  • Fill out the application form carefully with correct personal, educational, and contact details
  • Fill details under various segments: Personal information, Communication details, Education details, and details of previous SSB
  • Click ‘Save & Continue’ each time before moving to the next segment
  • Review all details carefully in ‘Summary of your information’ page
  • Only after ascertaining the correctness of all your details, click on ‘Submit’
  • Take out two copies of the application having Roll Number, 30 minutes after final closure of online application
  • No changes can be made after submission, so verify all information carefully

Important Instructions:

  • Candidates must submit only one online application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature
  • The date of birth, candidate’s name, and parent’s name must match exactly with Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate
  • CGPA/Grades must be converted into Marks as per the formulae adopted by the concerned University
  • Candidates studying in final year must note that aggregate marks after completion should be same or higher than marks in first two/three years
  • There is no need to send any hard copy to Directorate General Recruiting
  • Candidates serving in Indian Armed Forces must inform their Commanding Officer in writing

Documents Required for SSB Interview (Originals + Self-Attested Copies):

  • Print out of application duly signed with self-attested photograph
  • Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate and Mark Sheet
  • 12th Class Certificate & Marks Sheet
  • Graduation Degree/Provisional Degree (not more than 6 months old at time of joining Academy)
  • Marks Sheets of all years/semesters
  • NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Not required for Wards of Battle Casualties)
  • Certificate regarding CGPA conversion to marks (if applicable)
  • Certificate from Principal/Head stating candidate is in final year (for final year students)
  • Declaration for final year candidates
  • Battle Casualty documents (for Wards of Battle Casualties)
